Natural Remedies For Pimples

Pimples are small hard inflamed spots on the skin which occur due to the action of dirt, pollution, sweat and bacteria. They can also be caused by consumption of oily foods; they can be hereditary or even due to attainment of puberty and if you’ve ever had them, you’ll know that they can constitute a nuisance on one's skin, most especially the face. Below are 12 natural remedies for getting rid of them. (1) Saltwater: Washing your face at least twice daily with warm salt water leaves it oil free and thus, prevents the growth of pimples. (2) Tomatoes: Tomatoes are rich in vitamin A which are effective in fighting pimples and healing damaged or scarred skin. Blend the tomatoes to form a paste and apply on your face then wash off after a few minutes. (3) Oats: Grind oats in a blender and mix with water to form a paste. Then apply the paste on the face as facial mask and leave to dry for 15 minutes after which it should be washed off. (4) Toothpaste: Apart from brushing your teeth, toothpaste is also effective in brushing your face. Apply a small amount on your face and allow to dry before going to bed. By the time you're awake, the pimples would have reduced in size. (5). Baking soda: Also known as sodium bicarbonate (Na2CO3), baking soda (and NOT baking powder) is effective in fighting pimples. Add water to the baking soda to form a paste which you apply on your face and leave for three minutes before washing off. Leave it for some hours (preferably overnight) and by the time you remove it, the pimples would be gone. (7). Yogurt: Apply yogurt on the face and leave for 10 minutes before washing off with warm water. Don't try this if you are allergic to milk and/ or milk products. (8). Lime or lemon: The presence of critic acid in lime and lemon allows them to get rid of oil and bacteria on the face. Just rub it at night and wash off the next morning. (9). Aloevera: Wash youth face with warm water or soap and apply aloevera gel (aloevera gel is the slimy liquid in the aloevera plant). Leave overnight and wash off the next morning. (10). Ice cubes: Wrap ice cubes in a towel and rub on your face for 15 minutes at least twice daily. It would reduce the swelling. (11). Olive oil: Apply a small quantity of olive oil on the affected areas on your face and leave for 10 minutes before washing off. (12). Garlic: Apply freshly sliced pods of garlic on pimples gently. Leave for 20-25 minutes and rinse, or wipe with a clean soft piece of wet cloth/towel. Don't attempt this remedy on sensitive skin. Note that due to different skin types and causes of pimples, a remedy that works for you might not work for someone else and vice-versa and also, some results might not be immediate and would require continuous application to get desired results.
