5 Key Reasons Why People Can’t Lose Weight

The fact that over-eating and over-drinking can cause weight gain is well known, but sometimes there are other drivers of the ‘betty back fat’, ‘tummy tube’ or ‘love muffins’ that make our pants too tight. The following list outlines things you may not have considered to be contributing to extra weight gain, and they are worth addressing: Liver The liver is a main powerhouse in the body. It produces enzymes, balances sugar levels and, for weight loss, it converts fat into energy. If it’s overburdened, the liver can’t keep up with all the body’s jobs and the metabolism slows down. Solution:  One simple way to keep our liver working effectively is to give it a mini tune-up. Eat foods containing sulfur compounds as these rid the body of chemicals that are consumed unintentionally from sources such as prescription medications and environmental toxins. Onions, garlic and cabbage are ideal for liver health but so are broccoli, brussels sprouts and kale. Leptin This funny litt

Fighting Belly Fat by Eating the Right Foods

As you transition into a belly-flattening lifestyle, you need to make a few key dietary changes that will help you reduce belly fat. You can make these changes gradually over time. The more regularly you stick with these changes, the better your results. The following are some general guidelines to follow: Consume an adequate amount of fiber per day.  Aim for a minimum of 30 grams of fiber daily. Fiber provides you with a sense of satiety without any calories. Increasing your fiber intake helps stabilize blood sugar, control cravings, and prevent overeating — all things that help promote weight loss and flatten your belly. Consume an adequate amount of healthy fat each day.  Don’t worry. Dietary fat doesn’t equal belly fat. In fact, it’s actually the opposite! Healthy fats in the diet, mainly monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids, have been shown to help promote a decrease in belly fat. But portion control is still key here. Even though these fats are healthy, they’re st

Design Your Blog to Be Mobile Friendly

Image
It’s important to design your blog for readers who visit your blog on a mobile device. Because mobile devices have small screens, your blog’s design may not appear the same as on larger devices such as PCs and laptops. If your blog design is PC-centric, your mobile visitors may have to scroll back and forth, or even side to side to view information. If the placement of one element depends on the placement of another, on a mobile device, they could all look scrunched. Use responsive blog design for mobile users Responsive design is one of the hottest topics in web development. The phrase refers to a website or web page’s ability to respond to the user’s screen size automatically. When two PCs have screens with different resolutions, then even with the same browser, they might not display your blog design identically. Responsive design adapts to these differences. It works within a web page’s CSS, querying the browser about the device’s size and resolution. The web server then

How to Customize a Google Blogger Template

Then click the Template Designer tab. The Template Designer has five sections, and the first one that appears here is the Templates section.   Enlarge 2 Choose a base theme to modify by scrolling through the thumbnails and clicking a thumbnail to preview the theme. How to Install a Google Blogger Template

With Google Blogger, you can either use the built-in template designs, or install a template from an outside source. Mom bloggers can find well-designed Blogger templates with a search engine.  Blogger Templates , for example, has a great selection, is easy to use, and has good support from the site owners. Just as with WordPress themes, you need to be careful about using free Blogger templates found on the web. These can also include malware or spam links to other sites. Unfortunately, unlike WordPress, Google has no official site to distribute Blogger templates separate from their Template Designer, so there is no 100 percent safe source for trustworthy themes. If you see links included in the template that you wouldn’t want on your blog, be sure to either remove them or use a different template. Here’s how to install a Blogger template you’ve downloaded from another site: Log in to Blogger, and on your Blogger Dashboard, click the Design link. Click the Edit HTML tab.

Set up Your New Google Blogger Blog

After you’ve signed up with Google Blogger (or if you already have a Google account, after you’ve signed in), you’re taken to the Blogger Dashboard. Here, you set up your mom blog by following these steps: Click the Create Your Blog Now button. Type in the name of your blog in the Blog Title field. Enter your Blogger URL into the Blog Address (URL) field and click the Check Availability link. This is a mandatory step. Try to choose a short URL that is close to your blog name. (Remember, later you should set up your own domain name.) This URL isn’t going to be the one people use to get to your site, anyway. You can set up your own domain name to point to your Blogger blog under the Settings tab in the Publishing section once you’re all set up. Instructions on how to do this are on this same page. If the URL is already taken, Google will suggest alternate URLs that are available. If the Blogger URL ( yourname .blogspot.com) is available, click the Continue button.

Confession: It’s Good for Managing Your Anger

By  Charles H. Elliott, Laura L. Smith, andW. Doyle Gentry Behavioral medicine  (the science that connects mind and body) advises that excessive inhibition of emotions, especially strong emotions like anger, is unhealthy. That’s right — holding back on emotions can actually make you sick . It makes sense if you think about it. Holding back on emotions is unnatural for humans. Babies begin life by crying whenever they’re uncomfortable — hungry, thirsty, lonely, or in pain. But then life gets a hold of them and teaches just the opposite — to keep their feelings to themselves and, in effect, cry inside. So people end up in a state of emotional paralysis, which plays itself out in a variety of emotional and physical ailments. Some of those ailments include High blood pressure Insomnia Headaches Back spasms Impaired immune function Depression Will confessing your negative feelings on a regular basis result in a decrease in your need for medical services or in ho

Anger Management: Understanding Why Your Life Is Unbalanced

By  Charles H. Elliott, Laura L. Smith, andW. Doyle Gentry In today’s demanding, fast-paced, opportunistic world, it’s easy for life to become unbalanced and for people to feel anger as a result. All kinds of factors contribute to an unbalanced life. Age As with any skill, you find how to balance out your life by living. As you get older, you get wiser. Young people have a tendency to be one-dimensional. They put their energies into one thing or another — relationships, careers. Older folks are more diversified, more balanced in their use of energy. Life has taught them the fallacy of an all-or-nothing relationship with the world around them. Time constraint Time management may be the single biggest challenge facing human beings today. The average person has more money than he does time. The culture has bought into the 24/7 mentality, and many people work ten-hour days, six or seven days a week. Overemphasis on independence Most Western cultures place a strong emphasis

Before You Buy: What Do You Need in a Laptop?

1 of 9 in Series:  The Essentials of Buying a Laptop and Accessories Before you buy a new laptop computer, you should decide on what you really need and then get a laptop that comes closest to your requirements. Laptops vary in terms of processor speed, screen size, battery life, and total weight. When choosing features, remember that there is no benefit to going to extremes for features that you will not use or that bring problems with them. Also keep in mind that whatever you buy today will immediately be outdated. Ask yourself these questions: Is  fast  good enough or do I need super-duper turbocharged faster than fast?   The latest and greatest microprocessors are marvelously zippy, but most laptop users may never tax them to the fullest; word processors and web browsers work just fine with a CPU a step or two below the fastest processors on the market. Do I need a super-sized screen or will a more standard screen suffice?  A big screen looks great and is easier to r

Play PSP Games On Your Android Phone

PPSSPP is a new PSP emulator for Android and other platforms. The difficulty with running newer, high-quality games on Android devices is due to the hardware's weakness and inability to properly play such a highly optimized game. On PPSSPP's website, it states: "PPSSPP is written in C++, and translates PSP CPU instructions directly into optimized x86, x64 and ARM machine code, using efficient JIT dynamic recompilers (dynarecs)." This separates PPSSPP from other emulators and it is able to run on low-spec hardware, including higher end Android phones and tablets. While it may not have a substantial library, it is being developed at a rapid pace so that more games can become added in the near future. No games are included with PSSPP, so you'll have to turn your own PSP games into .ISO/.CSO files, or just simply find them online. A small list of the games currently compatible with the emulator include: Dragon Ball: Evolution Fate Extra Final Fantasy Type-0 Lumines M
